Dealing with Disappointment

How is one supposed to deal with disappointment when you arrive at a new church? I had such high hopes that I would jump into this new appointment and things would start turning around. It hasn't been the case. Don't get me wrong: I never thought that I had the magic cure but I thought that I could start growing this church. It hasn't proved to be the case. The old ideas and methods are so ingrained that it proving to be a hard nut to crack.

I see glimmers of hope and that will sustain me for now but I hope to get things rocking here soon.

Each church is different, and there are a lot of factors that go into changing the church culture. Example: I have been in my current church just over 3 years now, and just now am I seeing a glimmer of hope, after having "run off" the popular crowd (this was pretty much a 'country club' church where people showed up to be seen). The Holy Spirit is at work. The important thing to realize is that God didn't call us to do anything apart from God's will, and sometimes that is HARD.

But I recognize your struggle - it's one I have as well (as does my wife, as do many of my "on fire" leaders).
